Even the boss deserves a day to themselves where all staff and employees can show their appreciation for the boss’s hard work, direction and guidance, and inspiration. Motivation goes both ways, and this is the time to help keep your boss motivated through all the challenges and issues that arise throughout the year. We are including a brief explanation of Boss’s Day, but most of this blog post offers up some gift ideas if you are not sure what to get your boss this year. How Boss’s Day Got Started Boss’s Day was the idea of Patricia Bays Haroski. Her goal was to establish a day to recognize the hard work that her boss and all other bosses do. Now, it is celebrated in various countries around the world in addition to throughout the United States. Things to Think about When Picking a Corsage or Boutonniere Whether you are buying one or both, there are some things to think about in order to get the perfect homecoming corsage or homecoming boutonniere: What color is your dress? It should coordinate with your dress but not necessarily be the same color of it could get blend in too much, especially if it is pinned on your dress and not worn as a wrist corsage. What [...]

Celebrating the Jewish Holy Days
This year, the Jewish holy days of Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, fall on September 5-6 and September 14th, respectively. For the Jewish New Year, Jews celebrate Rosh Hashana starting at sunset on Wednesday, September 4th. Rosh Hashana The Jewish New Year occurs during the first two days of the Hebrew month known as Tishrei and is actually one of four Jewish New Years on the Hebrew calendar. As the start of the High Holy Days, Rosh Hashana, it marks the completion of the creation of the world and has been labeled as the day of judgment. This is a special day where Jews gather in synagogues and participate in extended services. It is during this time that they hear a spiritual call to repent and think about what they have done and what they can do to be more spiritual in their lives. Many delicious foods are also consumed on Rosh Hashanah, including raisin challah, honey cakes, and apples with honey. Yom Kippur Ten days after the Jewish New Year, Yom Kippur follows as the day of atonement where. During those 10 days, Jews have an opportunity to repent of their sins and ensure that [...]

Celebrating the Fourth of July with Flowers
Beyond flags, fireworks, and streamers, the Fourth of July is a reminder of our freedom as a nation and as individuals. It is a special holiday that is often celebrated with parades, parties, and picnics. This makes it a great opportunity to use flowers as part of the decorations and enjoy the natural beauty all around us. Decorating with Flowers The beauty of flowers is that they often can become the decorations thanks to their colorful and patriotic color palette. This includes many flowers in red and white, including roses, carnations, lilies, daisies and tulips. Flowers can also be dyed blue to add to the patriotic palette of Fourth of July flower arrangements. Of course, not all flowers have to be red, white, and blue to befit an Independence Day bash. You can use vases and ribbons in red, white, and blue as well as add pinwheels or miniature firework rockets or stars on sticks within the patriotic flower arrangements. Flowers for All Types of Fourth of July Celebrations There are many places to add flowers on the Fourth of July: Party centerpieces; Picnic table displays; Flower garlands; Hanging baskets on streets or porches; Wreaths and standing displays for cemeteries; [...]
