We also have some scrumptious gift crates that include chocolates and wine. The featured chocolates come from local San Diego chocolatiers, which also mean you are supporting some great local San Diego businesses. Dad may also like to receive a display of succulents as part of a succulent garden gift. We have all different sizes, combinations, and types of succulents to choose from, including a wide range of containers like concrete, glass, and more. Any of our options will look great in Dad's office or man cave. They are easy to care and long-lasting so your gift will be the gift that keeps on giving. Of course, we also have a wide range of flower arrangements and bouquets to also treat Dad. Our summer flowers are here and ready with a bright and cheerful message of love for Dad. Graduation Flower and Leis — Celebrate the Class of 2020!

Another school year has drawn to a close, but this one has been unlike any before it. While classes continued online, grades were still recorded, and graduation still happened, it was a virtual experience. Many high school and college grads missed out on some of the traditional events that come with graduation. Despite the differences, there is still every reason to celebrate. It will just be different in some ways but still focus on the incredible accomplishments of San Diego high school grads and college grads. Here are some ways to celebrate the Class of 2020 in San Diego: Decorate your home, inside and outside, with graduation-themed streamers and banners. Yard signs, announcing graduation, have become popular ways to let everyone know there is a grad in the neighborhood. Have a car parade come to your neighborhood or organize one through the area with other grads and their parents. Host a virtual graduation party or invite a small group over, whichever is the safest choice to make. Order food from your grad's favorite restaurant or cook them up their favorite dish. Create a virtual slide show or video to share on social media about your grad. You don't want to forget the graduation flowers and gifts, either! Our San Diego flower shop is ready to help you celebrate your child's accomplishments with a range of graduation gifts for high schoolers and college grads.  In San Diego, floral leis have always been a popular addition to enhance the cap and gown. Just because you are not having an in-person ceremony doesn't mean you can't still get one of these beautiful displays. They are perfect for re-enacting the commencement ceremony at home and for taking pictures to commemorate the occasion. Our orchid flower [...]

How to Care For Orchids

Orchids are one of our favorite blooming plants to offer. They are elegant, colorful, and exotic. While they appear delicate, these blooming plants are hardy and can last a long time with just minimal care. There are more than 20,000 types of orchids available, so it would be hard to imagine not finding one that you like. If anything, it's hard to narrow down one to select for your home or as a gift. Orchids serve as a symbol for many things, including love, elegance, and fertility.   The most popular orchids we offer in our San Diego flower shop include the phalaenopsis and dendrobium. These bloom one to two times a year with a bloom that can last about a month. If you buy an orchid for yourself or you receive one as a gift, here are some tips on how to care for an orchid so they enjoy a long life. Container and Soil Make sure to use a container or pot that provides plenty of drainage, including drainage holes to let excess water drain away from the orchid plant. Orchids should  be put in a container with fast-draining soil. This type of social is either a moss-based or bark-based potting mix. The bark-based mix allows water to drain the fastest.   Temperature and Light Orchids grow best in temperatures between 60 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit. They don't need much air circulation, but orchids do need a lot of indirect light.  They do well when placed near a south- or east-facing window. Water   Watering frequency depends on humidity levels and climate where the orchid will live. Typically, you need to water an orchid every few days. Just be careful to not overwater them because root rot is a common effect.    [...]

What’s Appropriate to Send For a Funeral?

It can be hard to know what to do when someone you know loses a loved one. Now, with the current situation and inability to hold public gatherings to recognize that loss, it may seem even more difficult to find a way to express your love and sympathy. However, there are many types of gifts that can be appropriate to send for a funeral or as a sympathy message.  Here are some ideas that offer a way to show you care and are thinking of your friends, family members, neighbors or colleagues during this tough time: Contribution/Gift of Money It's always nice to make a contribution in the name of the deceased to an organization or charity that was important to them or their loved ones. Often, the family will share this information as part of the funeral arrangements. In certain situations where there is a sudden or unexpected loss, there may be a need to get financial assistance. Now, many people can start crowdfunding events like GoFundMe pages. If this is an option, you can post a comforting note and make a donation. Personalized Gifts Depending on how close you are to the deceased's family, it may be nice to send a framed photo or flip book of memories you had with that person and their loved ones. It can be a comfort and joy for when the family is ready to focus on those joyous moments.  Food Gifts It may also be appropriate to send some type of food gift like a basket of food items or food delivery service. This can help when a family may be struggling to cope. Having pre-made food can ensure they still eat well. You may also want to drop off your own [...]

Our special gift crates can be delivered, using no-contact delivery measures throughout San Diego. This provides a way to let your loved ones know you are thinking of them on their special day even if you can' t be with them in-person. Why Choose a Gift Crate? Besides the convenience factor, there are many other reasons why a gift crate makes for the perfect gift: When you can't decide which is better -- flowers or gourmet food -- you can actually send both. The gift crates include partnership with local San Diego and national brands so you are supporting local and American-made products. Gift crates are unique and offer something different and unexpected compared to traditional gift baskets. Gift Crates for All We have such a wide selection of gift crates that are perfect for different occasions or expressions. For example, some of our gift crates are romantic with a large bouquet of red roses paired with champagne like our "Heart of Roses" gift crate. You can also opt for a wine and roses combination that includes one or two bottles of red or white wine along with a bouquet of roses. Any of these are perfect for an anniversary or wedding gift.  Of course, we also have other options that are great for birthdays, thank you gifts, and other celebrations. Monday: Do Mom's Chores Take care of the weekly chores for Mom. This might be the laundry, dishes, or housecleaning. Pick one or more things from Mom's always-long list and take care of it for her. Even if you can't get it all done in a day, tell her you've got it all covered and will get it done. Tuesday: Make Her a Card Right now may not be the best time to pick up a greeting card. That's okay because you can make one with supplies at home even if you design it on your computer and print it out. It's more about the message, so be sure to tell Mom how much she's appreciated.   Wednesday: Send a Gift Package We've put together some thoughtful Mother's Day gift packages to treat Mom. These include a bouquet of flowers along with other special treats like a bottle of wine or champagne, chocolates, and even a keepsake mug. She's sure to be delighted at such a generous gift.
