Veteran’s Day is November 11th and it is a special day that provides a way to recognize all the veterans who have fought across all battles, wars, and conflicts to save our freedom and protect the rights of others. While they deserve praise every day of the year, this is at least a way to draw attention and awareness to the plight of our veterans who still need help and assistance after they return home from the fight. In San Diego, we have many events that honor veterans on Veteran’s Day. Many events are produced by San Diego Veteran’s Week, including the annual Veteran’s Day Parade. This year ‘s parade has the theme of a “Tribute to the Guardians of Freedom.” It’s the 30th year that the parade has been held and draws attention to the fact that these courageous people have chosen to fight on behalf of all of us to preserve our freedom and rights. The parade will begin at North Harbor Drive, one block south of Grape Street. It will proceed south past numerous grandstands and the USS Midway. It will continue on Harbor Drive to Pacific Highway and conclude there, making the parade route about one mile in distance. It starts at 11am and ends by 2pm. Other events in San Diego for Veteran’s Day include the following November 11th activities: The USS Midway The USS Midway will offer free admission for veterans and their families all day long. Chula Vista Memorial Bowl Park Memorial Bowl Park in Chula Vista (373 Park Way) will host a Veteran’s Day celebration at 11am led by the American Legion Post 434.
